Is it 100% handmade?

Is it 100% handmade?

Yes, given unique traits of our product, it’s handmade for the most part. We use Damascus steel for axe’s head that cannot be casted into molds. Forging using press is the only way we can made Damascus axe head. The handle and its weaving are made by hand as well considering the amount of little details on them that cannot be replicated using assembly machinery.

Where do you manufacture your axes?

Our workshop is the place where we brainstorm on new designs and prototypes. Mass production will be put in place in order to conserve time, eliminate price increase and keep up with high demand/volume ratio.

When it comes to mass production, we’re considering Ukraine as our prioritized manufacturer. Given current informate circumstances we believe that our product will provide jobs for the people there. We have already established trustworthy connections with manufacturers and suppliers there. They’re able to produce desired quality product in short amount of time.

In case of inability for us to produce axes in Ukraine, our workaround will be manufacturers from other countries that we’ve established our relationships with already. Regardless of the outcome, we guarantee to produce and deliver our axes on time with no issues whatsoever.

You have a Ukrainian flag on the cover with the words From Ukraine. What does it mean, is it made in Ukraine, are you from Ukraine or what?

When we launched the project, we thought it would be a good idea to let you know where we coming from. We want people to know that we’re Ukrainians and that Ukrainian creators can create exciting things to share with you.

Is it possible to make an axe without weaving and with plain steel?

We have added a version without weaving, but unfortunately we have to stay with one metal option since running production for two metal versions creates a lot of complications.

The project is coming to an end, is there a specific place of production?  In the comments you wrote that you need more time to organize production for such a volume as you can not run production in Ukraine because of the war and large volumes.

We will move production to Europe, the main production will be in Poland and in Germany we will take outsourcing for the production of axe heads. Eventually we will be able to go back to Ukraine when things calm down and we are sure that there will be no risks.

Is it possible to create your own style of axe using different materials?

Yes, we decided to give such an opportunity and allow everyone to create their own axe if they want to. We will provide a survey after the end of the project where you can create your own style using available woods and weavings.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
